Bloomberg reports that the secretary general of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council has expressed that he’s “very optimistic” about reaching a deal with before the October 11 deadline set by the TRA.

Mohammed Ahmed al-Bowardi told Bloomberg reporters that “talks are very advanced and positive” and that they “are very optimistic it will be resolved before the deadline.”

It was on August 1 that TRA issued a statement saying that services Messenger, web browsing and email will be suspended on October 11. They had previously claimed that “ operates beyond the jurisdiction of national legislation, since it is the only device operating in the U.A.E. that immediately exports its data off-shore and is managed by a foreign, commercial organization.”

Both du and Etisalat quickly reacted and introduced alternatives for their Blackberry customers, which would kick in provided a solution over the Blackberry problem would not be reached in time.
