Yesterday we reported that distribution company EMS would start selling around the region on June 12.

“Please note that due to circumstances beyond EMS’ control, the launch of the Black Berry PlayBook has been postponed until the 25th of June. On behalf of EMS we’d like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for any additional information.”

At this point we can only speculate as to the reasons for the delay. As more information becomes available, we will of course update you.

Update: Today an official statement came from EMS: “The postponement of the launch of the new BlackBerry Playbook is due to potential shipping and logistics delays following overall transport delays in Europe. We are still working towards a mid June launch date and will keep you updated accordingly.”
